Ca l'Aranyó
This project proposes the creation of a centre for diverse musical activities in wich we find a concert hall, an area with rehearsal rooms and another with recording studios. In other words, a space devoted to the music world where the user can partake of it, record it and enjoy it. The project is located in the old fabric and threat factory Ca l'Aranyó, in Barcelona's Sant Martí district, characterised by its free floors, the space has been treated like a box enveloping the various situations that take place in it.
Located on the acces floor, the concert hall is separated from the factory and takes on whimsical forms; from a central space, a whole series of sub-spaces is generated around it: two chill out rooms and the dressing rooms for the performers.
The undulating walls of the hall provoke a forced meeting between the historical materials and the new materials. The colour emerges from the bars and the rear of the stage, making the space change ambient thanks to the lighting.
On the second and third floors we find the rehearsal rooms, measuring 25m2. Constructed recycling industrial containers -with a visor that will also act as a window display- and placed in a line, they provoke a serie of routes that allow the user to visit the other groups playing.
On the top floor we find the recording studios. Every recording room is built with different materials that produce a several range of sounds and designed as a cylindrical body that generates an open space around it, where we find the office and the rest area.
